Diamond State Community Land Trust
Diamond State, CLT is a non-profit that envisions a world where everyone has an opportunity for safe, healthy, and affordable housing. For us, its starts in Delaware, where house and land costs are rapidly outpacing wages, making homeownership out of reach for many.
Formed in 2006 and based in Dover, we are the nation’s first statewide community land trust. We serve to strengthen Delaware communities and families by creating and stewarding forever affordable housing while promoting the sustainable use of land.
Using the highly innovative community land trust model, we embrace a leasehold homeowner interest in the land homeowner’s purchase their homes on. With this model, our homeowners are able to purchase safe, healthy, truly affordable homes, gain equity during the course of homeownership, while also ensuring affordability to future buyers.

What is a Community Land Trust?
